Sylvia joined the board in July 2026.
She is a licensed certified public accountant in Massachusetts and New York, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts State Society of Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Public Accountants. She joined the firm of Adelson & Company PC as the Audit and compliance manager and was promoted to partner/shareholder of Audit, Compliance and Tax Services. She brings extensive knowledge and experience in the fields of audit, compliance, and taxation, previously starting her career back in 2004 with a large national accounting, auditing and tax advisory services firm in the lower Hudson Valley in NY. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the State University of New York.
Sylvia’s experience ranges over various entities, including but not limited to nonprofit organizations, governmental organizations, employee benefit plans, private schools, construction companies, and professional corporations.
As an experienced certified public accountant, she brings a meticulous eye for detail and concern for financial stewardship to every client interaction. Her audit experience encompasses a variety of organizations including private corporate accounting, nonprofit organizations, municipalities, school systems, and federal and state grant reporting. She is also in charge of internal staff training and development and monitors the firm's system of quality control.
Originally from Long Island, Sylvia lived in the lower Hudson Valley before moving to the Berkshires with her husband and children. Along with her family, she enjoy hiking the Berkshires, skiing, preparing Eastern European cuisine, and attending ECAC college hockey games. She enjoys volunteering and is an honorary member of the Rotary Club of Pittsfield, where she devotes her time to the local community, as well as a board and finance committee member of CHP Berkshires.
