Berkshire United Way supports Mass 211
Get connected. Get answers. Mass 2-1-1 is the easy-to-remember toll-free number to call for free statewide access to health and human services information and referrals. It’s the link between people who need help and people who can give help.
Have a question about rent assistance, food pantries, affordable housing, health resources, child care, after-school programs, elderly care, financial literacy or job training programs? A simple phone call to 2-1-1 can put you in touch with a range of resources not just in Berkshire County but throughout the state.
In addition, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, along with the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, has designated Mass 2-1-1 as the state’s primary telephone information call center during times of emergency. This is a new partnership that provides vital, up-to-date disaster information, numerous post-disaster programs, interpreter services, and call tracking of caller locations, greatly reducing the number of non-emergency calls made to 9-1-1.
Staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all calls are confidential. Multilingual and TTY (hearing-impaired) services are also available.
How does Berkshire United Way help?
1. Helping to fund Mass 2-1-1 to ensure sufficient coverage and access in our region.
2. Ongoing participation and oversight as member of the Council of Massachusetts United Ways which created the service.
