In Our Shoes - Walk and Talk with Youth

Hear directly from teens about the daily obstacles they face in Berkshire County- substance abuse,
teen pregnancy, bullying, and violence. We welcome parents and the community to come and engage directly with youth on the issues that matter to them.

  • Date and location: Feb 12th, 5-7pm @ Herberg auditorium
  • Groups involved: Reid & Taconic High Students Against Destructive Decisions, Glays Allen Brigham Center, Brien Center, ROPE, Railroad Street Youth Project, Face the Facts coalition, Pittsfield Prevention partnership
  • Theme: substance abuse, teen pregnancy, bullying
  • Purpose of event: an opportunity for youth and adults to come together and talk about the issues youth are facing in the Berkshires.
     

Agenda for the evening:

  • 4:30-5pm: Light dinner of pizza and soda, registration/attendance
  • 5pm-5:10pm: Welcome
  • 5:10-5:30pm: Substance Abuse activities (ROPE: slam poetry. More details to come)
  • 5:30-6:00pm: Teen Pregnancy activities (“The Talk”. More details to come)
  • 6:00-6:30pm: Bullying activities (SADD: Horse shoe game. More details to come)
  • 6:30-6:50pm: Open Mic/Wrap-Up
  • 6:50-7:00pm: Thank you and goodbye
