Let's Be Honest Trainings for Parents

Berkshire United Way is working with its funded partners, the community, and its Face the Facts – reduce teen pregnancy coalition to offer “Let’s Be Honest: Communication in Families Keeps Kids Healthy” workshops throughout the county.

Berkshire United Way is working with its funded partners, the community, and its Face the Facts – reduce teen pregnancy coalition to offer “Let’s Be Honest: Communication in Families Keeps Kids Healthy” workshops throughout the county.

The workshops are designed to help parents go beyond a single "big sex talk" to more regular conversations and increase their comfort and confidence as the primary sexuality educators for their kids.
Several parents that have already attended the trainings throughout the county had positive reviews, with one grandparent saying “They should be teaching this in school, before teens get pregnant!” Overall, 95% of attendees reported that the workshops were interactive, 62% reported specifically learning new ways to talk to their child about sex and 93% reported that it’s important for the schools to have comprehensive health and wellness curriculum.

Each participant also receives an “It’s Perfectly Normal” book to take home. The book provides accurate and up-to-date answers to many questions, from conception and puberty to birth control and more, to help teens make responsible decisions and stay healthy.

Upcoming trainings are being held by Berkshire United Way's funded partners, you can see the date and time below as well as more information on each partner at their website. Check back regularly as this events listing will be updated once all funded partners schedule their trainings.
